Kindle - The Simple Solution
45It's hard to believe the good old days of curling up with a book on the couch are becoming obsolete.
I have to admit it was getting pretty scary for awhile. Its hard to imagine our grand children twenty or thirty years from now saying. A book... huh? What's that?
Since the Kindle came about maybe those good ole days won't become obsolete but instead our grandchildren and great grand children will simply be reading in a different way.
The Kindle is an item I did have a difficult time getting used to at first. I admit I still read books more than I use my Kindle however, I am trying to embrace the technology and learn to accept life's changes gracefully.
As a writer, I am also a reader and once lost in a bookstore I loose track of time. My only hope is the thousands of book store closings can come to an end and they too can find a way to embrace this new technology as well.
Things You Can Do With Your Kindle
Aside from downloading books - You can read .mobi, .prc, .txt, .jpg, .gif, HTML and Word files.
Use Yahoo Instant Messenger.
Subscribe to various magazines as well as daily newspapers.
Check your e-mail.
Subscribe to blogs.
Access Google Maps and get directions.
Use dictionaries.
Listen to stories.
You can also use your Kindle as an MP3 player!
All about the Kindle
In case your worried about straining your eyes - your font can be changed to six different sizes to make your reading experience less stressful.
The possiblities are endless with the kindle. I simply have to get used to the technology - but I have to say that I am very happy that I purchased it. In my spare time, when I'm not reading a book I am having an all out wonderful time learning the ins and outs of this little wonder.
Do you own or expect to own a kindle within the next year?

I'm one of those who loves the tactile feel of books. I'm hoping to get a kindle, though. I've heard great things about it, so maybe, I should get that soon. Rated up.
As a writer with my first book on Kindle, I have to say I LOVE that gadget. For writers wanting to self publish in an easy manner with no cost - Kindle. Promote though, you are in competition with all the best writers, the top 10ers of the New York Times, all the newest releases. You can get lost in the pack. Wouldn't leave home without my kindle.
